Kanak Mani Dixit

Kanak Mani Dixit is the editor of Himal Southasian, a magazine which for 20 years has provided an unparalleled quality of news and analysis of all South Asia, and promoted internationalism and regional cooperation. He is a fearless campaigner for human rights and democracy, for which he has been jailed on several occasions. Committed to media’s power to inspire and educate, he is also the founder of two seminal film festivals in his native Kathmandu – Film South Asia, uniting documentaries from the region, and Kathmandu International Mountain Film Festival (KIMMF), which brings together films from highland regions all over the World.
