Simon Broughton

Simon Broughton is a writer and filmmaker, and an expert and explorer of the diverse musical cultures of the world, having co-edited the Rough Guide to World Music, now in its third edition, since 1994. He has made many documentaries on world music for the BBC and Channel 4, including films on the music of Afghanistan, Sufi music, and Portuguese fado. He is the editor of the world music magazine Songlines, which has now been running for 10 years, and has been committed to promoting new musicians and acts from all musical traditions.
