After graduating from university, Dondup feels bored by the leisurely pace of life in his village in the small kingdom of Bhutan, and decides to leave to seek his fortune picking grapes in the USA. His ambitious journey begins with a hitchhike through the Bhutanese countryside, and throws him together with a monk, an apple seller, a papermaker and his young daughter, Sonam. Sonam’s beauty and innocence begin to distract Dondup from his goal, and he is forced to reconsider what will really satisfy his restless nature.
