U n Us are based in the Gurkha barracks at Folkestone - the band gives traditional Nepalese
music a modern twist, using Western instruments and taking their ancestral culture in striking new
directions. The band was established in 2003, and all members are serving personnel in the Band of
the Brigade of Gurkhas in the British Army.
Ganga Thapa
Ganga Thapa, a Nepalese student of the Sarod, has been playing since childhood and is now
one of the most dedicated and skilled performers in England. This beautiful instrument will be
accompanied by the Tabla in a traditional North Indian arrangement.

YAK ATTACK
Rooted in the foothills of the Nepalese Himalayas. Yak Attack is a London based, shape-shifting musical outfit built around a core of Afro-Asian rhythm. Yak Attack brings an exotic mix of Afro-Asian rhythm and melodies that effortlessly combines the aesthetic of Funk, Dub and Jazz, with strong links in Nepalese Folk tradition.
